William M. Morris, SCLS
William Morris is currently Senior Vice President of Mall & Outlet Properties for The Woodmont Company in Dallas, TX. Mr. Morris is responsible for all 3rd Party Malls and Outlets properties as well as Lifestyle projects located in the Dallas Fort Worth Area. He has over 30 years of progressive and geographically diverse experience in real estate and the shopping center business.
Most recently, Mr. Morris was the Principle of the Wm. Morris Group, LP which for the past seven years specialized in retail leasing and the development of Life Style projects, Regional Malls as well as Tenant Representation. Prior to that Mr. Morris served as National Director of Mall Leasing for Insignia/ESG, the fourth largest leasing services provider of 3rd party regional malls in the U.S. In 1998, while at Insignia, Mr. Morris oversaw approximately 10 million SF of regional mall and community center properties coast-to-coast, supervising a group of four Leasing Directors, geographically located throughout the U.S.
Prior to joining Insignia, Mr. Morris served as Vice President of Leasing for Intershop U.S. Realties for five years. His responsibilities included all operational and developmental properties. His staff included five leasing personnel.
Preceding Intershop, Mr. Morris was Director of Leasing for Kravco Company, located in Philadelphia, PA. His duties included the responsibilities of five regional enclosed malls, totaling 6.2 million square feet of GLA. His team was responsible for the expansion and renovation of King of Prussia Mall. This trophy property was one of the top three performing Super Regional Malls in the United States. It was over 2.5 million square feet of retail, which included eight different department stores. King of Prussia opened fall of 1996 and retail sales were over $900 psf.
Between 1991 and 1993, Mr. Morris was hired by Paramount Group Inc. of New York, N.Y. as Vice President of all five of Paramount’s regional enclosed malls totaling 5.9 million square feet of GLA.
From 1983 to 1991, Mr.Morris was employed as the Vice President of Leasing for Marathon U.S. Realties, Inc., formerly The MG Herring Group. In this capacity, Mr. Morris was responsible for 15 regional enclosed malls totaling in excess of 15 million square feet of Gross Buildable Area and administered and supervised a leasing staff of fifteen. He managed and leased two major mall renovations (Temple Mall, Temple, TX and Mesilla Valley Mall, Las Cruces, NM) and personally opened and leased Marathon’s last six development properties; Alexandria Mall (LA), Pecanland Mall (LA), Shawnee Mall (OK), Westwood Mall (TX), Park Plaza Mall (Little Rock) and Villa Lynda Mall (Sante Fe).
From 1978 to 1983, he entered the shopping center business with the MaceRich Company, Santa Monica, CA, where he was responsible for three regional enclosed shopping centers.
As a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi he majored in Real Estate & Finance with a degree in Business Administration. Also, Mr. Morris is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Texas and is a Senior Certified Leasing Specialist (SCLS) with the International Council of Shopping Centers as well as a CCIM candidate.
