Lipton Iced Tea is helping independently owned restaurants and food-related businesses in rural ...Texas recover from COVID-19 and recent natural disasters through its partnership with Rural LISC.

Through the Lipton Iced Tea Heartland Hope program, 72 cash grants of $2,500 will be awarded to assist these businesses with short-term needs.

Independently owned restaurants and food-related businesses in rural Texas are eligible to apply. We define rural as communities with populations below 50,000 that are not located in major metro areas. Eligible for-profit food businesses include restaurants, food trucks, commercial kitchens, and caterers.

"Community support is vital to the success of small, locally owned businesses. But many people... feel conflicted—with online retail behemoths and big-box chains promising low prices and fast delivery, local shops might fall by the wayside. And with Amazon Prime Day happening on June 21 and 22 this year (and the holiday season, with its Black Friday blowout sales, not far behind), there will likely be steep discounts on many items on your shopping list—amazing prices that local retailers often find it impossible to compete with. In the end, however, supporting local sellers doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing approach."

"When the pandemic forced cities to shut down, millions of businesses moved their operations ...online — a shift that is having lasting impacts on hiring, real estate and the way we buy goods and services. Why it matters: Small businesses are the engines of the economy. While many did not survive the last 15 months, new businesses have popped up and found ways to find customers in the new, all-online-all-the-time environment.”
